A simple paint job can completely redefine the decor of any room. Of course, painting is one of the easiest and most accessible home remodels for DIYers. You do not need any special tools or construction experience to paint your interior walls. All you really need is a few basic painting supplies and you can start transforming your home. However, before you begin painting your home, you will want to properly prepare your rooms. This article will explain how to mask off for a paint job. This will make it easier to keep your painting area clean and safe.
Painting requires a fair bit of planning and preparation. To make the job more convenient, try to paint one room at a time. Mask the room off entirely and see the job through from start to finish before you move into the next room. This includes moving the furniture out, masking off, painting the room and then moving the furniture back in.
The Best Masking Supplies
When it comes to choosing the best products for masking off your home, it depends on what type of surface you're covering. For instance, painters plastic is ideal because it is affordable, thin, lightweight and easy to tape in place. It comes in large rolls, so it is easy to cover a large area in a short amount of time. However, painters plastic is not ideal for covering hard surfaces like wood and tile floors. The plastic will be very slippery under your feet, making the job site a little dangerous.
To cover the floors, you're better off using thick construction paper. This paper also comes in rolls that you can buy from the home improvement store. You will feel like you have a more solid footing standing on construction-grade paper. It also provides a good base for setting ladders. Just be sure that you securely tape the paper to the floor.
You can use the painters plastic to cover carpet floors and it should not be slippery. Since the plastic is cheaper and easier to use than the paper, you will want to use it wherever you can. It is also ideal for covering windows and door fixtures.
When it comes to masking off, it is better to be safe than sorry. Basically, cover everything! Paint can get tracked all around the house, so be sure to have the floors well covered. If you properly prepare for your paint job, you would not have to waste your time and money cleaning up dry paint.

Welcome to my website. I'm Albert Frost. Besides my dad, one of my biggest role models was my uncle Rick. He was a construction contractor who would let me come on his construction sites and also taught me everything he knew about building homes, including how to install hardwood flooring and add insulation. I always wanted to grow up to build houses like my uncle. I used to help my uncle with a lot of the grunt work needed to make a home a reality. But then I hurt my back playing football. Until I heal completely, I'm going to devote as much of my time as possible to teaching others about various construction topics I'm interested in.
