If you are ready to give your yard a makeover, but you have no idea what kind of plants to use, or changes to make, call a landscape designer. They can come to your home and get you a rich and lush yard that is eye-catching, without the confusion.

If taking care of a yard isn't something you are great at, ask your designer about the following things when they mock up a plan

Irrigation is Ideal

A landscape design professional can help you with designing an underground, automatic irrigation system for the yard. The system will turn on with a schedule, and will have sensors that detect if the soil is moist and doesn't need water. You don't have to worry about killing your new grass or plants, or wasting water if the yard doesn't need it.

Get Privacy

The designer will know how to plant trees and greenery so you can get privacy, without blocking the sun from your yard. If you are looking to have a privacy fence installed, or if you want specific areas around the home protected, explain this before the plan is arranged.

If you are going to have a patio or outdoor entertaining area, you may want to have a pergola, canopy or other item included in the landscape design.

Repel Pests

Tell your designer you don't want anything that will attract pests into the yard. Ask for stone instead of mulch around the house, and avoid having fruit or nut trees. You also may want to use plants like lemon grass to repel mosquitos when you want to enjoy the outdoors during the summer months.

Minimal to No Maintenance

If you don't have a green thumb, or you don't want to spend your time trimming and weeding, tell the landscape designer. They will choose plants for your yard that are self-sufficient, and that don't shed or need pruning. You can also have a landscape company come and spray your weeds, trim your trees and help with other annual tasks if you don't think you are capable on your own.

The yard is the first thing that people see when they pull up to your house, and it is a reflection of you. If people don't think you take good care of your lawn, they may assume that you don't care of your home and other things. Put your best foot forward, and have a yard that others envy. Talk to your local landscaping company, such as The Hilltop Landscape Architects & Contractors, for more information.

All About Building a Home

Welcome to my website. I'm Albert Frost. Besides my dad, one of my biggest role models was my uncle Rick. He was a construction contractor who would let me come on his construction sites and also taught me everything he knew about building homes, including how to install hardwood flooring and add insulation. I always wanted to grow up to build houses like my uncle. I used to help my uncle with a lot of the grunt work needed to make a home a reality. But then I hurt my back playing football. Until I heal completely, I'm going to devote as much of my time as possible to teaching others about various construction topics I'm interested in.
